Chronic Health Conditions

Chronic Health Conditions

Increasing prevalence of conditions like obesity, diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus and diabetes can cause persistent pain. Chronic pain can last for months or even years and often requires ongoing management. Inflammatory pain occurs when the body's immune system responds to injury or infection. This can cause redness, swelling, and increased sensitivity to pain. Stress, anxiety, and depression can amplify the perception of pain. Mental health plays a significant role in how pain is experienced and managed.

Behaviour

Increased Irritability and Mood Swings / Social Withdrawal: Individuals may isolate themselves from friends and family due to fatigue, pain, or feelings of being a burden / Neglect of Self-Care: neglecting personal hygiene, nutrition, and exercise / Dependence on Medication: Over-reliance as individuals seek relief from their symptoms / Difficulty Performing Daily Activities: Struggles with routine tasks such as dressing, cooking, or working can become evident
