It's not glamourous but I am doing my bit for the environment by monitoring 2 outflow outlets in Oxhey Park and 1 outflow outlet in Riverside Park in Watford. Thank you to Andrew Mackay of Groundwork East who took the time to show me where they are and for explaining how to do it.

Outflow outlets can release pollutants and sediments into rivers, which can harm fish and other aquatic life. By checking outflow outlets regularly, we can identify and fix any problems before they cause damage.

Groundwork East are looking for volunteers to monitor other outlets along the length of the River Colne. They can be monitored at times of your convenience and as infrequently as your time will allow.
